Customizable Magic Wand Handle

Customizable Magic Wand Handle

thingiverse

Tired of swinging around a plain wooden dowel and calling it a magic wand? Then this Customizable Thing is for you! Enter in a couple variables to generate your unique handle, jam a wooden dowel into it, and you've got a one-of-a-kind magic wand prop. A little sanding and painting will get you a professional looking wand for just a couple bucks. An STL made from the default Customizer variables is included, but for best results you should really configure your own. Customizer Tips Opening Diameter Ideally the inside diameter of the handle should be so close to the size of the wooden dowel that you can just push it on and not have to worry about gluing it. To do that you'll need calipers to get an accurate measurement of the diameter of your dowel and plug that into the Customizer. The SCAD script will add .5 mm to the value you give so that the opening will be just slightly larger than the actual dowel. Twist Factor This number is fed into the math that generates the cross pattern on the handle; the higher the number, the more overlaps you'll get. Keep in mind that more complex handles will take longer to print. I've set the max value to 15 because anything higher than that looks crazy, but I've never actually printed one with that many twists on it. Would be interested in hearing people's results with different values.
