Sub dividers inside small parts organizers never really fit and are painful to use. As a workable solution and to get more different small parts into my drawers without dividers I created these small insert boxes. Each box can be removed separately, fillets allow for easy part removal.

While starting with a simple design, I learned quickly that every system features its own dimensions and sub diver positions. Hence it represents a good option to try a customizable model using FreeCad resulting in a comfortable way to print exactly matching containers.

Included SLT files

Two sample sets of all three boxes are included. The dimensions are as shown in the screenshot. The wide option is a good fit for my “Lidl” organizers.

How to customize in few easy steps:

You need FreeCad to customize the model. It is a free open source CAD program and apart from the following steps no CAD knowledge is required.

Download and install FreeCad (if not installed already)

Open the FCStd file

On the left hand side click on “Dimensions”. This opens the spreadsheet with the relevant dimensions (red arrow)

Measure your organizer drawer and enter the data into the spreadsheet. Take care to enter VALUE AND UNIT. You might enter imperial values (they get converted automatically)

Once happy with the model click on one box (body) or the collection (part) on the left hand side (green arrow). The selected part should be displayed highlighted. (Values might be archived via copy / paste in unused areas of the spreadsheet)

At the top click on “File” and select “Export”. In the following dialog select to export as “STL Mesh”

Slice your STL and print as usual.
