Customized version of http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1927038 Created with Customizer! http://www.thingiverse.com/apps/customizer/run?thing_id=1927038 Updates: 12/03/2016 - checked this reed printed with ABS and with Alto Sax. It really plays good (maybe not best of all - I'm just not experienced in trying all reeds ever produced). It has soft sound - high overtones may sound suppressed. Unfortunately cane reed came in set with sax "don't play well" (just suck) even after I wet them in water 1-2 minutes as recommended on some videos. I did not try all 10 of cane reed in the box, but if you just need some reed that sounds reliably (may be not perfect as I mentioned earlier), just print and use this one. Print Settings Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: JGAURORA Z - 605S Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: Layer 0.1 mm Nozzle 0.4 mm Infill: 100% Notes: ABS plastic is used to make reed flexible. Higher thickness of tip is justified since ABS is much more flexible than original material of cane. Instructions Using the following options: length = 70 tip_round = 4 reed_tip_incr8 = -7.0 reed_tip_incr7 = -6.4 reed_tip_incr6 = -5.7 reed_tip_incr5 = -4.8 reed_tip_incr4 = -3.9 reed_tip_incr3 = -2.95 reed_tip_incr2 = -2 reed_tip_incr1 = -1 reed_tip_incr0 = 0 cut_angle = 14.0 txt = Alto V work_rad = 200 tip_thickness = 0.6 back_width = 15 back_thickness = 3.1 reed_cyl_rad = 14 width = 17 I checked with the same printed mouthpiece. It resonates 3-4 semitones higher with its form. This should change how it works with an instrument as I know.
