UPDATE: I have added the OpenSCAD file (needs BOSL lib). This allows you to customize this for what ever sized pole you have (via a single parameter) it should work for sizes from 20mm to 40mm without issue. If you try this on something that isn't 25mm let me know (especially if you have to change anything apart from the MASTER_POLE_DIA variable). I have also made changes to the inner insert so it will not need supports, however I've not printed these (again, let me know if you have problems with them) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Some parts to make your own shelving unit. This requires a pole with 0.5mm notches and 25mm dia. It was specifically designed to work with this: https://www.kmart.com.au/product/180cm-pole-for-chrome-shelving-unit/950316 (Aug, 2019) The inner part should be printed in 0.15mm layer with supports (and I needed to use a brim as it wasn't sticking to the bed) 2 parts per pole. The inner and outer parts are tapered and lock in together to clamp onto the pole. Some force might be required to get it fully locked down and it should only go together one way. Make sure the inner part is seated into the notch when you lock the taper down. You provide the shelf material. I have not load tested to failure but it does seem to hold a reasonable load. Printed in PETG so it has a little bit of flex. Each shelf (4 brackets, 8 inner parts) takes about 18.5 hours of printing at 0.15mm layer. Shelf supports were printed with 4 perimeters and 20% infill. Inner parts are 2 perimeters (make sure the part has some infill as that allows the printer to maintain correct dimensions) If you are making a larger shelf unit, you might want to brace the poles, but wasn't required in this instance.
