This is a huge project but it's interesting to share it here, maybe it will give some folks other ideas. This a straight key I've designed which looks like classic straight keys. There are 3 knobs to adjust the spring tension, the rear lever movement and the contacts spacing. This project require some 3D printing and also CNC machining for the aluminium plates and wood base. What you'll need : - 1x piece of wood for the base (about 200x80mm) minimum thickness of 5mm (mine is 18mm) - 4mm aluminium sheet - 1x LM8UU bearing - 1x 52mm long 8mm shaft - 3x M5x35mm screw - 3x M5 knob (diameter about 12mm) - 3x M5 knob (diameter about 15mm) - 1x 10mm diameter and about 15-20mm long spring - 2x M5x8mm screws for connecting wires - 15x M3x15mm screw With that, you'll be able to print this key. It's quite comfortable to use, it's not a portable one, but it looks great on a desk also ! With the 3 adjustment screws you can choose the behaviour you want, like real straight keys. Caution : with the spring, if it's not painted, you can have some electrical contacts beetween the plates. I did tape it around to prevent that. You'll have 5x M5 holes to tap on the aluminium to install screws and wires.
