CZ Scorpion Soft-jaw

CZ Scorpion Soft-jaw

This simple design takes advantage of the CZ Scorpion EVO 3 S1 hand guard shape (an octagon, approx. 52mm circumscribed circle). This means that using soft-jaws directly on the hand guard is eliminated. This design also raises the rifle about six inches above the vise to make cleaning the barrel easier. I used PETG for this design. It has just enough flex to make it viable for holding the gun without breaking in case you bump into it. PETG is strong enough to handle the weight of the rifle. The holder halves are symmetrical. The inside of the holder pieces have three tabs that fit into the M-Lok channels on the hand guard. This provides a bit more stability and prevents the rifle from shifting in the holder. The holder uses two 3/8"-16 bolts, fender washers, lock washers, and wing nuts to assemble the holder. There is only a 1mm gap between the two halves before tightening the wing nuts. The holder does not rely on compression solely to hold the rifle--it uses the geometry with minimal compression. Additional hardware used: (2) 3/8"-16 (or M9) hex bolts, 1.5" long (2) 3/8" lock washers (2) 3/8" fender washers (2) 3/8" wing nuts Other recommendation for printing: I used top/bottom/perimeter settings to achieve approx. 1.6mm wall thickness. Infill was 20% full honeycomb (Simplify3D) with 120% extrusion multiplier for infill.
