Czechoslovak 1938 light fortification object "řopík" (A-140Z, atypical)

<p>Between 1935 and 1938, the Czechoslovakian government had been building a line of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Czechoslovak_border_fortifications">border fortifications</a> as a defense against Hitler's Germany. However, it was still far from finished in 1938, and in the end, it was never used because of the Munich Agreement. Thousands of these bunkers still exist to this day (in various stages of renovation/deterioration). They are very typical Czech landmarks, similar to menhirs or wayside shrines elsewhere in the world, and popular subjects of hiking and sightseeing tours.<br><br>This <a href="https://www.ropiky.net/dbase_objekt.php?id=1075727883">particular bunker</a> is the <strong>A-140Z type</strong>, which means:</p><p>A stands for the most common lateral-firing type (about 85% of all completed bunkers were the A-type),<br>140 stands for the total arc covered by its defensive weapons (there were variants from 120° to 220°),<br>and the Z stands for “zesílený”, i.e. strengthened, with stronger walls than the default.<br><br>It was armed with 2 machine guns (either <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZB_vz._26">these</a> or <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZB-53">these</a>), with a crew of 7 soldiers. See the attached pics for a more detailed description.<br><br>It would be a pretty standard bunker specimen, however, there is a twist, which makes it <strong>one of a kind</strong>: since it guarded a particular strategic spot and a heavy fire was expected from one side, that <strong>one wall was made much wider than usual (125 cm), with an atypical, huge gun slit</strong>.<br><br>I made two versions, a whole bunker and a section showing the interior. Both are in <strong>1/35 scale</strong>.<br><br>Enjoy, any feedback will be appreciated. Later I will add photos of a finished print with some painting and post-processing tips.</p><p><strong>See the Remixes section for two other variants.</strong></p><p>-------------------------------------------------<br><br>Tento bunkr, tzv. <strong>řopík</strong> (podle ŘOP: Ředitelství opevňovacích prací), byl součástí československého <a href="https://cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C4%8Ceskoslovensk%C3%A9_opevn%C4%9Bn%C3%AD">pohraničního opevnění</a> budovaného v letech 1935 až 1938.<br><br>Dodnes se <a href="https://www.ropiky.net/dbase_objekt.php?id=1075727883">nachází</a> v částečně zachovalém stavu v lokalitě Červený Potok poblíž města Králíky. Jde o <strong>typ A-140Z</strong>, což znamená:</p><p>A je označení nejčastějšího typu pro boční palbu, tvořil asi 85% všech postavených bunkrů,<br>140 znamená součet úhlů krytých palbou kulometů (existovaly varianty od 120° do 220°),<br>Z znamená zesílený, tedy se silnějšími stěnami oproti standardu.<br><br>Bunkr byl vyzbrojený dvěma kulomety, buď <a href="https://cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lehk%C3%BD_kulomet_vz._26">vz.26</a> nebo <a href="https://cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/T%C4%9B%C5%BEk%C3%BD_kulomet_vz._37">vz.37</a>, se sedmičlennou osádkou. Trochu podrobnější popis bunkru najdete na obrázcích.<br><br>Nejde však o standardní A-140Z (což byl jinak velmi rozšířený typ): tento konkrétní bunkr kryl strategicky velice důležité místo a proto měl ve směru očekávaného útoku <strong>jednu stěnu výrazně zesílenou na 125 cm, s odpovídající obrovskou střílnou. To z něj dělá unikát.</strong><br><br>Co se modelu týče, vyrobil jsem dvě verze, celý bunkr a řez interiérem, oboje <strong>v měřítku 1/35</strong> (tedy standard pro techniku a diorámata).<br><br>Užijte si model, ať už pro modelářské nebo výukové účely.
