Da Vinci Jr Dual Extruder Bracket Upgrade

Da Vinci Jr Dual Extruder Bracket Upgrade

Dual mounting bracket that adds an E3D V6 or Lite6 to an XYZprinting Da Vinci Jr for full dual extrusion. Please note that you MUST upgrade your board and firmware to something like RAMPS 1.4 in order to support this! This will NOT work with the stock XYZprinting firmware! For more information see my thread on Soliforum about my conversion: http://www.soliforum.com/topic/15273/howto-convert-da-vinci-jr-to-ramps-14/ You also will need an additional bowden extruder and extruder stepper motor. I used the 3maker All-metal for my mod, but the choice is yours. Print Settings Printer: Hacked Da Vinci Jr Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.3mm Infill: 30% Notes: The included model and SCAD files have "legs" that extend the height of the mounting bracket to the full height of the DVJr's quick connect carriage. These are not necessary. You may adjust your slicer settings to omit the bottom of the model up to the DVJr mounting blocks. You must print with supports. There are many overhangs on both sides that need to be supported. I used pillar supports with a 0.3mm interface in Slic3r. Post-Printing Clean up the supports, disassemble your stock hotend, attach it and the new E3D to this bracket. Clip it in, wire it up, configure your firmware and test it. The DVJr hotend can be adjusted up and down for fine-tuning your Z settings to match the E3D hotend (which is fixed in place for ease). Loosen the mounting screws just slightly and use a little pressure to move it in tiny increments, then re-tighten the mounting screws. Final X/Y calibration is tricky and will depend on your individual printer. I ended up with X:35.5mm and Y:2.7mm as my offset, which should give you a good ballpark to start working from.
