This model was created from drone imagery posted by Digital Smoke Signals, showcasing one of two drilling pad erected on the shores of Lake Oahe north of the Standing Rock Indian Reservation in North Dakota as captured on November 8th, 2016. Utilizing photogrammetry, a process that enables the generation of 3D models from photos, this model demonstrates the potential of technology in preserving fragile and irreplaceable assets such as museum artifacts. As an experiment in active cultural preservation, it documents the destruction of cultural sites, utilizing digital preservation techniques to safeguard invaluable historical evidence. I offer my deepest gratitude to the indigenous media teams on-site for their tireless efforts in documenting these pivotal events.
