This is based on the replica prop by EFX Collectables which was recently made available.

Stand now added!

Complete with a working hinge - which locks together using magnets - this double bladed lightsaber hilt can be displayed opened, or closed.

This has been designed as a display prop, and therefore, there isn't room for electronics.

The mode has been separated into multiple parts that all slot together to allow for easy finishing and assembly, and also more versatility in printing medium (resin for example)

I have designed the hinge to take 5mm by 5mm round magnets - 3 on each side.

There are various screw holes provided on the model as well, so that you can add your own cosmetic screws, if you so wish.

The metal clip detail holes have been made for 2mm diameter screws.

There is also a cosmetic screw hole on the side and bottom of Main Hilt 001 - these screw holes have been designed to fit 3mm screws with a 6mm flat head.

The switch piece also has two screw holes at the top and bottom. These are 3mm holes, with a 4.5mm head.

There is also a hole running through the length of the piece for a piece of 8mm studding. The length of said rod is around 274mm.

The hinge piece takes a 3mm screw, and there is also space for an M3 nut in one end.

There are two variation pieces.

Main-Hilt-001-WITH-DETAILS: This piece is the main hilt 001 piece, with the switch assembly, metal clip details, and cosmetic screws all pre attached.

Main-Hilt-002: This piece is Main-Hilt-002-A, B and Red Cannisters all combined into one piece.

IMPORTANT

Both Lightsaber hilts are the same, EXCEPT for Main-Hilt-Grip-001 and 002. They connect to their respective hinged pieces differently, so in order to print both blades, you need to print both 001 and 002. The rest all then connects in exactly the same way.

The stand assembly is super simple. The two supports arms are simple screwed into the base using some 10mm M3 screws. Nameplate can simply be screwed in.

If you have any issues, or requests for custom sizes pieces, please feel free to ask, and I'll do my best to be helpful.

UPDATE - 11/12/19 I've added a couple more variation pieces, for those with limited Z height. The tallest piece -Main-Hilt-Grip-001 + 002 have been split in half, allowing for them to be printed in two pieces. They should slot together like all of the other pieces.

Main-Hilt-Grip-001-Small-A

Main-Hilt-Grip-001-Small-B

Main-Hilt-Grip-002-Small-A

Main-Hilt-Grip-002-Small-B

UPDATE - 08/02/2020 I've adjusted the 'Hinge A' part, as the hole for the nut was way to big - I accidentally got my maths jumbled. it should fit an M3 nut now.

UPDATE - 23/03/2020 I've made a few more adjustments to the hinge - changing the magnet capacity from 3 on each side, to 6.

UPDATE - 30/03/2020 I've uploaded a stand (finally). The stand is designed to display the piece in it's folded pose. Nameplate prints super well in resin. I'm not sure how well it'll print on fdm - but I'd imagine you'd be able to print it - just maybe not as clean.

UPDATE - 27/05/2020 By request, I have uploaded a pre-assembled version of Both lightsabers. All you need to additionally print is the hinges parts A + B

Dark-Rey-Lightsaber-PRE-A

Dark-Rey-Lightsaber-PRE-B

These are untested. I have no idea if they will print well in one piece. But it was requested, so hopefully they can let me know how it goes..

Category: Props
