A version of daruma seen in the anime Nichijou. Daruma dolls are seen as a symbol of perseverance and good luck, making them a popular gift of encouragement. The doll has also been commercialized by many Buddhist temples to use alongside the setting of goals. The idea is that both eyes are initially white, so you paint one when setting a goal and paint the other when the goal is achieved. Seeing the daruma will remind you of your commitment.
