DB9, RS232, Serial connector breakout box

thingiverse

Hi All, Here we have a Breakout box for a DB9 Male or female RS232, serial (whichever you want to call it) to induvial 4mm banana Sockets. you may of spotted that the box breaks out into 10 holes. the 10th hole is for the chassis ground of the connector should you require it. I connected the ground via a small spade connector under one of the mounting screws of the DB9 connector. Other, probably better methods of connecting the ground are out there but his worked for me. It should not matter what 4mm Banana sockets you use, providing they have an 8mm mounting hole. I have a link the ones I use: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Banana-Chassis-Panel-Socket-4mm-Female-Speaker-Connector-Red-Black-x-10-Pairs/224030964669?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649 For the DB( socket I used these with the matching m3 hexagonal studs to screw them into place. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5x-DB9-9-Pin-D-Sub-Female-Solder-Connector-Socket-RS232/272884878946?hash=item3f8934ce62:g:r7EAAMXQeKNTOnJt For mating the two parts I used M3 threaded brass inserts. I also have a link to the ones I use: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/THREADED-BRASS-INSERTS-FOR-PLASTIC-SOLID-PRESS-FIT-METRIC-BARBED-M2-M3-M4-M5-M6/192514339545?var=492602030976&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item2cd2bfb2d9:g:OVsAAOSwPcBbLOuh&amdata=enc%3AAQAFAAACcBaobrjLl8XobRIiIML1V4Imu%252Fn%252BzU5L90Z278x5ickkfKe2vUidqHRg3XM2X2xOVCSRJU7xmJRz4aEHaomt31v%252F0dJHVOYZYWeZAm6W5xdQfhuiwfpmy2h8uwwczQfffnD74Zp%252BLKnG6FPUK3IBH9uAg6sqwQsebIaXs1awYfuB5FbgYfgYrudFXndEzdz0QzJEcaajb729g%252FlkCfuHlI98j268BtL9bJOildNhq5saYsMDBhRP3pB44swIQjjsPaUJSOi25x3%252Bl4yn6ChpSHsCIru8h23zLD1lpFXaOX29lfLSzr9BYUPNP9LkmCyM9ASNjpzDxthGHVUzwJMpanYNCFjNauRHLcJif1zD1PifncSb61uC2Op%252BCCWT0xp6Ry7lcUrKjnviS215jiRbcAeTNnvCy1i30PdhdIBBbMb9fgcuj4NHYxgoZ3gR4JCNEevB091H3dnd%252BH%252BgZZmvuRPPl%252Fd5830akXWn79GfHolsqzs%252FDwGiQdunNyx2nHIrJ9VuYfaZpXJnsalSCTZJn%252FupYyIHMEzLiWTuLLsf%252FAKmOZXBNtz29VIAZ%252B6DwXizkuKW29GjuQCuKxwB0mTMNPu0SNfoY9n233R0%252BfFVYbsFCzLjPqiUvnPF43Addwn5mUcHPfdvshg%252BYFo7UMBnj%252Fxhvrww1Q%252FBsFSgDgXl6UAbZUdyJB9VhqyfbpI4X7SRamDhDSwgWul7a6023E1BWHPZfnhWlolfpE3pLJ4eSDIrAfjBZjCQ5TaudtJiKePTt3vjXLsPRVPcruC8BTFRhMOucpcRcfxdG%252BToUO8r7exGebCVJvc9LESn8t0OCBA3IQ%253D%253D%7Ccksum%3A1925143395459b9d52b14f6c496894481fa2a398800a%7Campid%3APL_CLK%7Cclp%3A2334524 And for the bolts, I used M3 countersunk machine screws about 8m long, once again any countersunk screw can be used, providing the screw is not too long (say over 10mm) any more will be unnecessary and might interfere with components here is a link to them: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/M3-M4-M5-M6-COUNTERSUNK-BOLTS-ALLEN-KEY-BOLT-SOCKET-SCREWS-A2-STAINLESS-DIN-7991/383694614499?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item5955fb2fe3:g:yH4AAOSwMFVfR8~w&amdata=enc%3AAQAFAAACcBaobrjLl8XobRIiIML1V4Imu%252Fn%252BzU5L90Z278x5ickkxFtV7J5P58ubuVigtBH%252Fe8U5UO3%252BUqPja78SJxxnTUAtH3H0J6R4RysGxVHvTZ%252F8hW%252F5McLW437aMs9WL9AUoCg3cqqGm8dFh2EE25gzvTadHuZuPR53l8P%252Fb4fPHO%252FYU7%252BS2jUQ4V2P5VKqQCuJZoejS7VJE5hsbGOBRJERdeYJah1E1%252F95hbtHLIJJ9qyY%252FnF5GHNoXroX0%252BEHap5lr1vDcf8K2pxW7D2svtKWrh%252BJ4JiDQL2lDXo0pi%252BYjQVFKEX%252Fw%252BHNp3B%252FFoj29GFx%252Frly8eDYp7gjR%252Fro3ABIIn9yLnIbsH8%252BbNcsHcP24Av26kbe5oNic9q3wKwp0iWnekDifVJNdOtcwvYuyZBdOQrbiTj381l7zTeLoDu93S9iVsNz355Ptx42cysK%252BP6flzIvBsSppjpu5BOXcnxsDC1ASvNDJUCi%252FGC2koGUGMiIEKUphEjXUFRq%252FzDG7dgaAVOidc9JHgRYYMqT0hj2XsS1ovS4emknV4rpta4Q90kGVt4sJ2I2kf3V3po9%252B3t4T6cnIL%252F1HaxxytHBm47H925im1jhz0w8NDJEkUEzHOycN6Ix%252B1Bsu6uSo3a4X5Laa2r1Ry9ny3C3L%252FDag4QAC%252BFNqf3UWWNAYg4nk1bNnRDstJa2b0crVpMVLzEwqOMdxcivwgsxOfRWxVD8pr0WJIbihDJpDGGQzp2EAi6HvO2sb6LIWeb%252Bm%252F9dwhtkeA6G0iFGowW4s12A5j%252B5v7y05UYdYfhQAbZsH7OYQMTsWhgcBJF8HkQhcIw2RpEcH7rzYw%253D%253D%7Ccksum%3A383694614499b12adce24ee14b4a96c5c5bbcd8cc29c%7Campid%3APL_CLK%7Cclp%3A2334524 If you can post your makes It would be great to see them.
