Death Star Laser Cut 3D model

I decided to throw a May the 4th party this year for my 34th birthday. Having recently being on a laser cutting binge and short of other decrotive ideas, I decided to laser cut a death star. This was my starting source image, along with a few others. I made this from scratch using the normal death star image and a few similar to it. First I made a solid file with no detail for the base, then I expanded that so it was slightly larger than the detailed top. Then I made a middle layer which were the visible black parts (with reduced colour channels) and then finally the top layer, using just the brightest parts of the image, cleaned up a bit of course. I then made some custom risers to seperate the layers and cut out riser holes for each layer to sit into.
