Decorative Shelf Bracket. This shelf bracket is designed to be attached to the wall (gypsum wall board) using small nails, like the kind that come with the OOK brand museum picture hangers they sell the Big Blue and Orange Box Stores. The included SCAD file is preset to generate the shelf bracket at 185mm long x 185mm tall x 20mm wide x 5 mm thick, but should be easily customizable. I printed this with OrbPoly's Lion Bronze and It is quite strong in compression (Can't bend any part other than the overhangs). It is printed laying down, so Z-axis only needs to raise to 20mm, and is printed with a small brim, and supports to the build plate. I could not seem to get good adhesion at the joint where the two 90 degree arms meet, and I suspect it was caused by a piece of masking tape directly under the glass at the point (it's in the build pictures). I'm also having trouble with the bridging of the 45 degree decorative angle piece that sat on the support (just ugly). If anyone has some suggestions, please leave me a comment. Print Settings Printer: Wanhao Duplicator i3/Monoprice Maker Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 15% Notes: 210 C Nozzle 70 C heated bed 60mm per second Post-Printing Attach to the wall Print two of these and then get four small diameter nails, two for each bracket (preferable ones that come with museum picture hangers, 30lb load), and a piece of wood to set across the brackets for your shelf. The nails are roughly 1 inch long and about 3/64" (1.3mm) diameter. How I Designed This Using OpenSCAD I created some modules to support the museum picture hanger nails. Added a module to lay out two bars (cubes) at 90 degrees from each other. Added a module for the 45 degree angle portion, which consists of two very large hollow cylinders scaled into ellipses and the intersected with a cube that fits in the space made by the two 90 degree arms.
