Deemoss Puzzle Plane Remix with inner magnets

Deemoss Puzzle Plane Remix with inner magnets

thingiverse

This is a remix of Deemoss's Puzzle Plane. I loved the plane the first time I saw it but I did not like that the magnets were glued on top. So I decided to remix a version where the magnets are inside. As Deemoss said in one comment, building it with magnets inside is harder. It is harder because you have to schedule pauses in order to insert the magnets in their pockets. Not also that, but it uses up a lot more magnets than the original. Deemoss's version uses 55 magnets. This remix uses 109 magnets. In fact, I ran out of square magnets and had to use some disc magnets I had purchased previously. The additional magnets are needed to strengthen the unions because the gap between magnets created by the plastic lowers the attachment force between magnets. I used rectangular 3mm x 5mm x 5mm magnets. The disc magnets are 3mm x 6mm. I left 0.3mm clearance between magnet and plastic, therefore you should have plenty of space to print the magnet pocket. I hope this does not deter any would be printer.
