Dell Laptop Power Adapter Cord Wrap

Dell Laptop Power Adapter Cord Wrap

I bought a Dell Latitude Business laptop and it didn't have much in terms of cable management such as velcro straps, etc. I got sick of tangled cords and the power adapter kept getting caught on everything while trying to pull it from the bag. This cable wrap is for the Dell Slim Power Adapter 65w and 90w models. The adapters came with Dell Latitudes in the past couple years and they have rounded sides (see images). It may fit other adapters that share the same shape, as long as the width of (rounded side to other rounded side) is 66.5mm and the thickness is 22.5mm. http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/accessories/apd/492-bbom?ref=p13n_ena_pdp_vv&c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/accessories/apd/332-1833?ref=p13n_ena_pdp_vv&c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd Dell made several power adapters similar to these in design. Feel free to re-mix the design idea as necessary to fit your adapter. I created it in 2 parts. This resulted in parts that do not need supports to print. This also left much of the rest of the adapter exposed to facilitate heat dissipation. The posts are curved and have beveled edges in some places to prevent unnecessary wear on the wiring. Assembly: The pieces are friction fit and include a small lip to prevent them sliding towards each other when you start wrapping. If you print with less tolerance, they may not be as snug. If your's print and they are too loose, or if you simply want some insurance to stay on, each piece has a small channel to run zip-ties through. Depending on the size of the zip ties you use, you may need to daisy chain several of them together. I used a total of 6, 140mm long zip ties, 3 chained together on each side. Please note: the 2 pieces are slightly different. The piece with the notch cut out is intended for the side where the cable that plugs into the laptop resides. This file is labeled as the "DC side". The file labeled as the "AC side" is intended for the side where the 3-prong plug resides that goes into the wall. There are 3 files: AC side, DC side, and the third file includes both. I include all 3 files in case some people only want to print one at a time or have smaller print beds. To use: First wrap the wall plug (AC) lengthwise around the adapter, using the groove between the posts to hold it in position. Then start wrapping the cable around the posts. Second, take the laptop plug (DC) and wrap it around the smaller posts on the side. You can use any remaining slack to wrap around the entire unit horizontally to hold the other cable in place. You can also add a large rubber band or velcro strap to help facilitate holding it together.
