I bought a 12-bay Dell R510 to use as a cheap/DIY DAS to add some storage to my server by using only the backplane and none of the other internals. I found the stock fans were insanely loud and overkill for running a bunch of drives. Not only that, they used so much power that fan controllers just weren't able to run them. So this little print allowed me to use some regular 60mm fans. I used Fractal Design Silent Series R3 60mm fans. They just screw in with some M3 (I think!) screws. Just thought I would share in case anyone else happened to be wanting something similar.
