Delonghi Dedica KG521 espresso-mod

This is a mod to make the Delonghi Dedica KG521 coffee grinder grind fine enough for espresso with a non-pressurized basket. Largely inspired by "Arty Home" on youtube. As it turns out, the KG521 has the capability to grind much finer than what it is set to from factory. This mod will raise the inner conical burr 1mm to shift every setting to about 4-5 steps finer. This makes it possible to grind fine enough get a lot more flavour out of, for example, a Delonghi Dedica EC685 using the standard pressurized basket or, even better, a third-party non-pressurized basket. Using a setup like this (with non-pressurized) I could not go finer than step 2 as it would choke the espresso-machine but nevertheless I experienced a significant improvement! Keep in mind that the settings of the KG521 do not allow for fine adjustments but as luck would have it, mine ended up at just the right coarseness. If yours do not, you could adjust the thickness of the spacer and print a new one. Also not that if you go too fine, the grinder might choke unless you poor only a few beans at a time. The tool used to unscrew the burr is specifically designed for this grinder (or its siblings) and should fit nicely. Using a wrench to grab the handle on top and applying a moderate amount of pressure. By rotating it clockwise it should come lose. Kneeling in front of the machine standing on the floor allows for more control. Please **UNPLUG THE MACHINE** before touching the burrs. Hope you find this mod as rewarding as I did. Good luck! :)
