This is to replace my existing design, Thing:4296711 found at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4296711 I've been using that original design for around 3 years now, and it's worked very well. But one of the issues I had when I designed it was that there's very limited space between the extraction outlet pipe and the bandsaw's foot. So I necessarily went thin-wall all the way around to make it fit the space. This made it quick to print but creates an inherent weakness. So it eventually snapped off through flexing while in use. I could have just printed another - they don't take very long (and I got 3 years out the first one) - but experience had taught me that a 90 degree bend would also be a useful feature when working near a wall etc. Unfortunately, adding such a bend would require lots of support material during printing, and I'm lazy. So I try to avoid all the extra print-time and part clean-up wherever I can. My solution was to make use of a 32mm (approximately inch and a quarter) FlowPlast waste pipe elbow that I had kicking around leftover from a plumbing job. It gave the added bonus that I could extend the extraction system to anywhere I fancied, using nothing more than ordinary 32mm waste pipe and fittings. Dead handy if I ever want to build a permanent extraction system should I ever get the workshop tidied up! Getting rid of the thin wall of the previous design wasn't difficult. My solution was to make it with a thicker wall, but then to slice out a plane surface to match the area where space is limited. It seems to work well - although time will tell if this creates another weak spot. I'll let ya know in about 3 years if it does! I also learned something about 32mm wastepipe: 32mm is the internal diameter, and I found out the hard way!! I'm sure you all knew this already, but I didn't! So why didn't you tell me?!! I printed the parts with 3 perimeter walls and a 30% fill. It results in a good sturdy fitting that mates to the FloPlast elbow properly - with no sloppiness - and it stays put too. No support should be needed for these parts - although Part B will need to be rotated 90 degrees in your slicer so that it sits vertically with the pipe end towards the print bed. I meant to amend the STL for you folks, but never got around to it. You know how it is! As usual, I've included the Sketch-Up file for those who like to tinker, and for those who might like to substitute an end piece more suitable for connection to their their own brand of vacuum cleaner. I think that's everything, so happy sucking to you all!
