I don't like to carry around dental floss and I don't “strangling” my fingers by wrapping it around them tightly so that I can pull it between my teeth. These floss picks are easy to use and they are both a tooth pick and floss, so I really like them and they have upped my flossing game.

Carrying them around however can be a problem if they get bent, or worse dirty since you're going to be sticking them in your mouth! I wanted a container that I could hold a few in, and it would be easy to open and get one out.

Originally I designed the base without the “guide” this meant the picks were all over the inside and sometimes hard to remove. I added the guide to keep them aligned and not banging around. While they are pretty sturdy, off the shelf containers were either to small (causing some bending) or way to large (wasting space) so why choose something substandard when you can print what you want? Right?!?

The design is a simple slide on the top box. There is a 0.5mm “rail” along the sides that slides into a matching guide on the top. (see the diagram in the pictures). There is a bit of a nub on the end of the lid to “latch” it closed. It's 0.375mm but could probably be 0.25 and still work fine. If you close the lid fully (until it snaps) then you may find you need to pull up a bit on the end where the nub is to open it. Very secure, but if you don't have the hand strength a smaller (or no) nub might help. Just the friction keeps it from simply sliding open.

The lid has the words “FLOSS EVERY DAY” embedded in it, but it is hard to read, I like the look of it, but you could easily remix to make the top smooth. The top has a 1mm filet edge to make it less likely to snag in your bag.

I printed it in PLA because I have a lot of it on hand, it should be printable in anything but be aware if you print it in ABS that it might shrink a bit. I used two colors because I ran out of blue during the first print of the lid.
