Hello all,My full name is Nguyen Chi Sinh. I’m a student at HCM city University of Technology and Education (UTE for short), Vietnam. I am studying Mechanical Engineering and Manufaacturing. This is my submission for the Extreme Redesign: Engineering Post Secondary Education challenge.I want to approach this challenge with a design linked to safety and self-defense. Therefore, my redesign is a carry holster. I had this idea when I was watching a youtube video about carry holster. I see that carry holsters have some problems such as bulky, very complicated design and uncomfortable. They’re often made with a metal clip to attach to inside your pant or jean which makes them uncomfortable when sitting. Basically you’re carrying a firearm at your hip, this design doesn’t fit all people, for example fat people, so I redesigned it to fit all people and more convenient. My design is a carry holster when used with a sling/belt that you can put it anywhere on your body. It will be more comfortable and convenient. I notice the popularity of the Glock family, especially Glock 17, therefore I design the holster for a Glock 17. It’s a simple design and I hope it will change the way people carry firearms. I chose ABS plastic for this design because of its high strength, durable, weather resistant and low melting point for manufacturing characteristics. It weighs only 31 grams. The overall dimension is 120x75x30 mm.
