1) Your Project Statement (3-5 sentences explaining the intended purpose of your design and how the 3D design can help classmates with virtual learning). The intended purpose of my design is to offer storage space on a desk while taking up a small amount of space. I made my product to hold pencils, pens, scissors, paper clips, etc. There are 3 sections on my product that are available for storage. I also modified this storage space to fit around a desk light in order to minimize the amount of space it takes up. My product can help students with virtual learning by maximizing their desk space and giving them more space to work. 2) What issues did you come up against? This was my first time using Tinkercad so I was not used to the way it designs products. The difficulties I ran into with this product were lining up and measuring the objects/holes correctly. It is much easier to do these things on Inventor and I would’ve preferred it if we were actually in school. I also had problems with making my sketch into a 3D model because Tinkercad limited me due to my lack of experience using it. 3) If you could redesign this again what would you change? I would redesign it so it could adapt to fit around any desk light. I would also just make minor fixes to my design as I see fit. I would definitely have to learn more about Tinkercad to do that though. Also, I would maybe add a clip or something on the side for cable organization. 4) How would 3D printing help strengthen your design? I think it would help me visualize my product and see the changes that would improve my product. It would also help me to see what I can improve on in terms of overall design skills.
