Desk Mount

Desk Mount

thingiverse

This is a desk appliance made to help students more easily work from home and prop up a variety of appliances, from notes to webcams, with an extendable mount that clips on a 1.5" desktop. The 4 parts fit together after being 3D printed to be an easily useable accessory that is simple and easy, to help organize and increase mobility and flexibility of online presentation and working. The main rod fits into the base mount, and the shaft fits into that rod. The pin is inserted between the holes to lock the shaft in place at any height, from 11 to 20 inches. During this I did come across a few design issues, especially with the pin system as, some flexibility would be required for use and it needed to be simple. I also learned a lot about OnShape in the process, which gave me difficulties at first and is what I used for modeling. In a redesign, I would definitely make the dimensions more adaptable, as these mainly fit my needs at my desk, but more proportional and adaptive designs could be quite beneficial. 3d printing was a very important asset of this design, as it provides the flexibility and ease of manufacturing that is required by such a project.
