Project Statement: Students and teachers alike are finding that they are using common areas, like the kitchen table, as workspaces. This requires them to remain organized and still be able to clear the common area in preparation for activities like eating meals. We have designed a small portable device that is used to carry your everyday belongings that are required for virtual learning into these common workspaces and can be carried out easily as well. When our group was coming up with ideas, at first we wanted to make a desk organizer because it was simple but we ended up coming up with a multi-tool that is similar to a swiss army knife but carrying small drawers instead. The reason behind this is that there are already many desk organizers out there and making another one wouldn't really be unique but making this multi-tool styled one is something we personally haven't seen so making this would be very unique. Some issues that our group came across is that most of us were new to the cad modeling software that we used so we had to figure out how to use it and it was lagging a lot when we worked on it together at the same time. If we were to redesign this we would make the drawers more unique and add variety to each of them possibly adding walls into each of the drawers making designated slots for specific items. 3D printing would strengthen our design because having the physical model would let us see how efficiently the drawers would move around when sliding them in and out.
