Desk Tray - Keep your stuff above the cables and clutter

thingiverse

If your desk is like mine, there are a ton of cables strewn across it. Keyboard, mouse, hub(s), random charging cables for wireless charger, watch, iPods, USB-C - whatever. It's a mess. It occurred to me that I might create some simple surface that sits above the cable chaos and gets me a bit of my sanity back. I don't have a printer that can print really large prints, but even just this 200x175mm tray gives me some control back over my desktop. If your bed isn't trammed/leveled well, and isn't flat (or mesh calibrated), you might have trouble printing the tray top. It's big. It worked fine for me, but I can see how a large print like this would be a potential problem. The press-fit legs should print easily enough (you'll need 4, of course). Just press them into the holes on the bottom of the tray. If they are too tight, sand or carve them a wee bit. If they are too loose, then a bit of glue or tape might help. Or just ask me to make slightly larger diameter legs. I printed the legs and tray in different colors because I think it looks cool, but the black legs don't really stand out in the photos (which was the entire point of choosing black for my black desk). If you want to adjust the sizes of everything, then you can make your own version in Blender since I've included the file.
