Desktop Stand for USB Fingerprint Reader

Desktop Stand for USB Fingerprint Reader

Most of the time, I use my laptop with a separate keyboard and mouse and the laptop tucked away in a corner of my desk, with the lid closed. I recently bought a Kensington USB fingerprint reader, and while it works great it's awkward to reach if it's plugged into the laptop or the docking station.

So I bought a USB extension cord (https://smile.amazon.com/OKRAY-Nylon-Braided-Extension-Extender/dp/B01FF0HU48/) and designed this little stand to make the fingerprint reader easier to reach.

I created two versions, one with a straight channel in the back for the USB cable, one with a circular cutout, which I found more convenient if the cable is turned to one side or the other.

This model was designed for this specific USB extension cord. I have uploaded the Fusion 360 file, if you want to modify it for other brands.

Prints without supports, 0.2mm layer height.

If you like what I'm doing…

…consider buying me a coffee

.
