Some information we require permanent visible such as the date or the time. Depending on what you are doing it might be required to have other informations like the weather or the time in other places of the world etc. This information can be displayed on your PC screen but as this is not really the best possibility from various reasons I made some time a go a Desktop Widget ( http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:857858). As the display capacity is very limited I made now a bigger one: While the first was in a clear rounded appearance I tried with the new one to stay in clear simple shapes but was looking for sharp edges and hard lines in order to give a hard, clear, definite appearance. Of course it can be used as just as an other weather display but I require the exchange rate and the time in different cities of the world at my fingertips. An code example and detailed building instructions can be found here: https://hackaday.io/project/11081-forex-display. This works best if ABS is used. After sanding fine painting with an airbrush gun provide a proper finish. When you print without a raft the window for the display becomes a bit too small. This is necessary as a too wide window will lead to an ugly appearance as the frame of the TFT becomes visible. As a help to sand the window to the right size the test mode of the program can be used. This test mode draws a frame which makes easy to recognize whether the whole scree is visible. If the white plastic for the housing is chosen, it might be necessary to paint the inside of the housing black. This is because the cheap TFT scatter some light around the frame which might become visible. How I Designed This The housing is designed with Tinkercad
