Dust shoe and air deflector for Dewalt DWP 611 router. Prints as a single part. Dust control is of paramount importance if your CNC router is located inside your home or apartment. Especially in colder climates where homes are well insulated and fine dust particles may circulate for months. Chronic exposure to such particulates will lead to chronic and deadly diseases such as COPD and emphysema, to name a few. That is why aggressive dust control is key. A good dust shoe is part of that strategy. Most routers vent cooling air through their body creating a vertical flow onto the work thus scattering dust everywhere. This is great for clearing chips but in CNC router applications involving a dust collection shoe of some sort , this airflow works against the suction of the vacuum and spews a lot of dust into the air. This dust shoe aims to vent the clean cooling air from the router by deflecting it sideways and up, away from the work surface and cutting. It also provides cutouts for the built in LEDs to shine through. This Thing was designed for and installed on my Shapeoko 3 but it may also work for other CNC DWP 611 router combinations such as X-Carve or perhaps other home-brew setups. Please let me know if you have used it successfully in a different application. Requires: 2 x M5 20 mm screws to tighten the dust skirt to the router. 12" x 1.5" of clear vinyl. Like a transparent floor runner (for the skirt) 10 x #6 wood screws 1/2" 2" O.D. ABS pipe. Could be printed in soft PLA to deaden sound, but I have not tried it. Print Settings Printer Brand: Printrbot Printer: Simple Black Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: .3 mm nozzle, 0.15 mm layer height Infill: 25% Notes: Print speed: 55 mm/s Bed temp: 55 Deg Celsius Extruder temp: 210 Deg Celsius Approx print time: 7h 58 minutes Print bed size is the expanded 10" x 6" y-axis upgrade variety Post-Printing Separating the Perimeter Skirt Retainer Ring Perimeter Skirt Retainer Ring prints in place and separates easily. Supports should be used everywhere to ensure crisp edges on overhang. Prior to separating, drill holes to suit the wood screws you will be using to retain the ring to the dust shoe main body. Free from top supports with a sharp box cutter, then pry gently with a flat screw driver. Clean up gently with a sharp blade. Cut vinyl skirt to length with 1/2 " overlap and wrap around the body of the dust shoe. place ring around the vinyl skirt and gently screw into place using a manual screw driver. Tapping the holes for the M5 tensioner screws Use a tap and dies set to tap the holes for the M5 tensioner screws. These are the two screws that allow the router bracket to clamp around the router body securely. It is best to manually tab theses holes to ensure good functional threads, Tap holes on the rear bracket (facing away from dust port) from the behind the bracket itself. There is no need to tap holes through front bracket After tapping is complete and screws have been tightened and loosened a few times, add some silicon spray or a drop of machine oil for subsequent ease of operation and to reduce strain and wear on threads. Tap screw holes on back flange only - Tap from the back vs through the front flange holes Use countersink drill to taper screw holes to your liking if necessary.
