Dial Caliper remix

<p>Needed a caliper for measuring things larger than the generic vernier caliper can measure. So after quick search in Thingiverse I came across lots of options, but the Dial Caliper by LoboCNC seemed the best option. But since the available size was rather small for my needs, I took the liberty of recreating the original model in OpenSCAD and in larger scale.</p> <p>The available model is 200mm tall, and should be able to measure objects that are up to 170mm, although the accuracy will probably suffer at that point. Also the measuring arms are much longer than normally so measuring for example cylinders with diameter of 150mm+ should be possible.</p> <p>The source is here: <a href="https://github.com/spegelius/3DModels/tree/master/Caliper_remix">https://github.com/spegelius/3DModels/tree/master/Caliper_remix</a></p> <p>The scad is configurable with variables so it should be possible to easily scale this. The body back arm has a support column modeled and it needs to be removed after printing.</p> There is a test\_parts model for testing how the parts fit before printing them all. <p>If the parts are too tight, especially slider and nut, either use scaling feature in slicer or change the slop-variable in the OpenSCAD file and render the models anew.</p> </div></p></p> Category: Hand Tools
