I'd had a similar idea to properly calibrate the bed of the Bits from Bytes BFB-3000 printer I'm using at the moment. Instructions Edit the OpenSCAD model if you need to customise the design to fit your dial indicator. Or just slice and print the STLs if you prefer. The legs are designed to bolt into the outer 4 fan mounting holes using the original screws, and then they bolt onto the platform and the DTI attaches underneath.
