Dial Indicator Stand to Assist Bed Leveling & Dual Z-Motor Setup
thingiverse
Here's yet another Dial Indicator Mount! I deliberately avoided permanently mounting an indicator to the carriage so I came up with this 'generic' stand that simply sits on the bed and can be used with any printer. My Tronxy X5S has two Z-motors driving the bed height. Although I have implemented Auto Bed Leveling, which compensates for changes in bed tilt, I still need to periodically reset one of the Z-motors as they will get out of sync and begin tilting the bed significantly. This leads to items printed out of square. To reset the Z-motors, I manually adjust one motor or the other until the bed is flat with respect to the carriage. To assist me in this task, I purchased an inexpensive ($12) dial indicator from SHARS and designed a simple stand that allows the indicator to sit on the bed and measure the relative distance from the bed to the carriage (or carriage frame). By moving the stand from side to side, I can easily and quickly re-sync the two Z-motors.
