Diamond Lattice Model

thingiverse

Diamond is the hardest known material on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness. Diamond lattice has face centered cubic structure with 4 atoms in the inside. Carbon atoms bond in tetrahedral configuration with 4 neighboring atoms at angle 109.5 degrees, with length 1.54 Angstroms. Silicon, germanium, and gallium arsenide, some of the most important materials in modern technology, have the same crystal structure as diamond. This model is a part of a unit cell featuring 14 atoms and 16 bonds. For educational setting or just for fun, diamond lattice is a nice model to have on your desktop! But be warned, taking the support off may take some time and patience!
