This is a Diamond Back Mountain Bike mount for the iPhone 7 and 8 Otterbox Defender Case. I was on a family vacation and we visited Martha's Vineyard for a day of bicycling. My sister-in-law was leading the way and made a wrong turn. She was using Apple maps and took us on the main roads where there was no bicycle paths for quite a few miles. I was taking up the rear behind all the kids and my wife for safety. I was not able to call up to the front. As my phone is in the Otterbox Defender case it doesn't fit well in the universal cell phone mounts. So my cell was in the bag under my seat. I had to stop any time to call to the front of the line.

I like the way my cell phone fits in the belt clip that came with the otter box case. This inspired me to build a bicycle mount that functionally gives all the benefits on the belt clip.

My design allows the phone to clip in, so when you stop you ride it can unclip and immediately transfer to a shorts pocket or the belt clip. It swivels 360 degrees with pre-determined latching points. The clamp is designed to mount on the center yoke for the handle bars. All the hardware needed to mount this you probably all ready own. I designed it to use the M3 hardware used for building 3D printers. The mounts for the yoke are have a hex on both sides so you can put the nuts on either the top or bottom mount.

I had designed the bottom mount solid, but later changed it to have a center slot. Hopefully the center slot will aid in allowing any water that is trapped under it to escape. The clip allows the all the buttons to function and gives you access to the lightening port. I could have 3D scanned the clip but designed it from scratch as the Otterbox design would need supports and it is a bit on the thin side. I have broken enough of the belt clips to know for a bicycle mount it need to be thicker.

Unfortunately, there are no pictures of it installed on the bicycle. I had printed the model with 20% infill. During testing prior to clipping in my cell phone and going on its first voyage I managed to find all its weak points. I ran out of time this summer to reprint and test it out. If you decide to print this I recommend printing with 100% infill.

Please do not ask for the cad files. This was designed 100% in Tinkercard.
