Digitizer Accessory Clip

This clip is designed to allow the attachment of peripheral light sources to the MakerBot Digitizer's crossbeam. This is a single component of an assembly I am currently working on. When completed, this assembly will allow the mounting of a lighting system with adjustments for brightness and angle. Hopefully this will allow an easier way to find the best "light recipe" for the MakerBot Digitizer's sensitive camera in a variety of environments. Instructions After realizing the sensitivity of the MakerBot Digitizer's camera, I found that a light placed at a specific angle behind the camera's field of view greatly enhanced the quality of my scan. I was using a simple banker's lamp positions behind the camera with the shade resign on the crossbeam. This arrangement was too inconvenient to use on a consistent basis. So, I decided to design a lighting system that attaches directly to the crossbeam of the Digitizer. After taking measurements of the crossbeam and drawing a quick circuit schematic, I sketched a rough draft of the design in AutoCad. This clip is a prototype component for a larger assembly, which will utilize two (2) of these accessory clips. The two clips will support a small structure which will house the electronic components of the lighting system. More to follow! Keep Makin' Stuff!
