Disk Entrance for Swarm Traps, Resource Hives and Horizontal Hives

thingiverse

This is a basic disk entrance intended to control the movement of bees out of a 25 mm (1") circular opening. Entrance contains a fully open entrance, winter entrance (10 mm x 20 mm, with awning) and a ventilation opening that provides ~80% the airflow of the fully open entrance but which keeps bees in the hive. I made this a little thicker than the cheap entrances you can get from many bee suppliers, meaning it should last for years if you print it in ABS, HTPE or another weather/UV-resistant material. Central hole is 3.5 mm in diameter, but can be drilled out to as much as double that if you are using a larger screw. To mount, centre the fully open entrance over your hole and screw into place. Tighten the screw such that it holds the disk in place, while still allowing for rotation. I recommend printing this with 100% infill to maximize its life. Even with that setting, this entrance uses less that $0.15 in filament.
