My name is Brent Ellis and I am a junior industrial design student at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. My professor is Julian Hurrle. My entry, titled Divine Infinity, was inspired by my girlfriends love of her Judaism, infinity, and Harry Potter. The design combines the infinity symbol with the Star of David, a symbol of the Jewish faith. The symbols are interconnected to symbolize the intersection of the faith and eternity. “Always” is engraved within the inner band of the ring. This engraving correlates to the infinity symbol, but also relates to her love for Harry Potter. Always was the last word spoken by Severus Snape and has become an iconic phrase for fans of the series. There are many rings that feature an infinity symbol, but there are none that intersect the symbol with the Star or David, making the ring a unique design. The ring comes in three distinct and trendy colors; silver, gold, and rose gold. The chosen method of 3D printing is FDM printing ABS plastic. This will allow for tight tolerances to be maintained, the ability to be sanded to a perfect surface, and the ability to maintain a perfect pain finish. This ring will ring will provide a stylish accessory for any female, and especially those of the Jewish faith.
