DIY Battery Backup Solution for an Alarm Clock

My alarm clock does not have an internal battery, so the time gets reset every time the clock is unplugged. I came up with a solution to fix this.I designed the enclosure to avoid using standard clip-on battery connectors, and instead used spring terminals. This saves space and allows for an easy battery replacement. The design uses a simple two-diode current sharing circuit, so the battery is not drained when the clock is plugged in.
