DIY Battery! My students construct these simple batteries when we study circuits and how and multimeters. We also have a competition to see which pair of students can make the most powerful battery! This thing can put out around 3-5 volts, maybe more, but the current is low. The video below shows how to construct your DIY battery. Materials you will need: table slat, water, card stock, jumper wires, copper and zinc washers, 8-32 x 1inch bolts with nuts. I would encourage you to experiment with different salts and electrolytes such as vinegar. You can also use shammy material for as an alternative to paper for a salt bridge/porous membrane.
