The DIY Ice Pack is a product that allows for everyone to have an ice pack around for quicker healing. Not only are all of the parts easy to find around an average home, they also create an ice pack that is going to last some time. With only plastic bags, rubbing alcohol and water the ice pack is simple to make. The 3D printed part is the clip used to fasten the ice pack to a wound to allow for quicker healing times. For kids, all the way to grandparents; people are bound to get hurt, or feel sore; be it after working out, or falling down. Why buy an ice pack specifically for a certain part of the body when the DIY Ice pack can be secured with practically any form of rope or cloth lying around. There is no hassle when trying to clip it either, because the finger holes allow for one handed clipping, while the other hand holds the ice pack in place. The buckle was also designed to be tightened with only one hand, using a ratcheting system, to spool up the desired rope or cord. The buckle should be 3D printed using FDM 3D printing technology using Nylon 12 as the material, for strength under repeated tension from the clip. The ice pack itself is created by putting 2 water: 1 rubbing alcohol in a plastic zipping bag, then removing the air and double bagging it. When put into a freezer to it will get cold but remain unfrozen, allowing for easy application. Additive manufacturing allowed for the creation of this part, because the axles are being printed directly into closed holes in the design, a feat that would be impossible to do otherwise, and therein lies the beauty of 3D printing. Not only are new ideas able to be spread but they are created because of it.
