I saw a remote controlled skimmer at the pool store and thought I could make something similar. I've made a few different versions. I thought I'd put the various parts here in case someone was looking to make something like it. When I added the "sweep" sections, which also hold the weir door, I just solvent welded them to net holder parts with MEK (they were printed in PETG).

The frame of my skimmer is 1/2 inch PVC. The various 3D printed parts are designed to slide onto the PVC.

<oembed url="https://youtu.be/2Ey_C2Fxwb0"></oembed>

I designed everything in Tinkercad, so I don't have any other files except the STLs.

The battery holder was remixed from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:698768.

You need a pretty big build area for some of the parts. I printed everything on my homebuilt D-bot (200x300x300 build area).

My D-bot: http://www.thingiverse.com/make:204199.

Original D-bot: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1001065.
Category: R/C Vehicles
