I was having trouble removing supports from the trigger model so I made it into two separate parts to improve repeatability and ease of part cleaning. The quality of the example print is not beautiful by far and a lot can be said about how it can be done much better, but I am printing several of these that are going to be sanded and painted. I hope to have one finished so I can post a make of the model these parts are complimentary to. UPDATE: 6/30/2023 I am still working on the new version of the upper portion, simply referred to as "Top" in the collection these parts are being derived from. There are still a lot of manifold errors, but the current version of this part will print so I'm putting it up as a "WIP" part if anybody wants to try it out. I have also completely re-modeled the flash hider, referred to in the parent collection as "Tip". The goal was to make a flash hider with a bit thicker of a cone section to increase it's survivability if dropped, as well as to get away from the rough, irregular surface of the parent model. You will still want to print a "Tip Spacer" for the current version, but I intend to make a second version of this model that includes the knurled section like so many screen accurate models for this part as well as reducing the inner diameter so it fits snugly on the end of the barrel for both the parent and derivative model I am working on. Notes on the WIP upper: As I mentioned, this part -will- print, but there are currently open manifolds in the part so your slicer software will give you a warning about model errors. You will also notice that I've changed the breach portion to have a trapezoidal profile rater than following the round curve of the barrel. With this part, I'm also including two sizes of barrel that I made. The "Bull" barrel will result in a standard length blaster when assembled. It also has a small chamfer on the back end to meet up with the same at the bottom of the socket it will be glued into. This will make more sense when you have a look at the wireframe of the models. I have not made this addition to the second , longer barrel yet, but it is on my list of things to do. The chamfer can be sanded into the part after printing if you wish to build a DL-44 with a considerably longer barrel. I'll include more pictures of that soon. Finishing the hand grips with screw heads is also on my list of things to come back and finish, but again, the currently available hand grip models should print just fine, you jus have to ignore the "Model errors" warning from your slicer. If you would prefer to use the standard hand grips but aren't sure what type of screws to look for, I found some that are perfect at Ace Hardware. They are a brass machine screw made by Hillman and the item number for those is 2038-J. At some point I would like to stop remixing the derivative model and create my own as the original model utilized some 3D scanned parts as well as geometry from more than one version of Han Solo's DL-44 Blaster. You may recognize those parts and you may not. It looks cool anyway, I just want something that has cleaner lines and is more screen accurate that I can give the community for free.
