DNA Trophy

The idea behind the design is to represent how 3D printing and modeling is in our DNA. If you are an active and passionate printer, why wouldn't it be? The base, strong and stable in the form of a cube. Using the logo as inspiration and creating layers, the use of transparent materials shows the Double Helix in a continuous path. The spiral of dna strands rising to the heavens and holding the sphere. The sphere is to represent the world as this is suppose to be a worldwide award. I used the lattice in the design by incorporating and layering multiple double helix's. This created a look of refined texture and almost similar to steel beams like a building under construction. The Lattice Structures should be printed using an MJF printer as the material gives it strength and doesn't require supoorts using this type of printer. The Ball and Transparent Plates should be printed on the SLA printer as these would be transparent, smooth, and the transparent plates allow you to see the Double Helix's inside the base. The Base should be printed on the SLS Machine as it gives it texture and wouldn't need supports for the letters and angles of the Double Helix's.
