There has been a recent waking up of humanity towards the future of the planet and consciousness has been growing regarding the biodegradability of common day to day items. One such frequently used item is the Coffee Capsule developed orignally for Dolce Gusto machines. Concerns have been raised due to the non-bio-degradability of the capsules and defunct recyling program offered by the manufacturer [1] and the vast proliferation of them. Coffee Consumption equates to 9.2 Lbs per person in the United States of America, which would equal more than 758 capsules per year per person considering drinking Dolce Gusto exclusively. [2]. This device was made to encourage recycling Dolce Gusto capsules with Instant Coffee, Tea or Chocolate Powder. Astandard capsule can be re-used at least 5 times. The device performs several functions; 1. Opening a spent capsule in a quick and safe manner 2. Cutting a circular piece of Aluminium foil used to close a refilled capsule 3. Clamping the closed capsule tightly shut It's also much more economic tto re-used spent capsules. The result is excellent and with instant coffee mixes hard to tell the difference. Tip: Cut out several pieces of aluminium beforehand to save time in the morning.
