The goal of this project was to create an automaton, a simple machine driven by cams and a hand crank. In this project, we were asked to create a similar design from inspiration and ideas we found online and then make our own versions, putting it through the design process ourselves. My project is a dolphin automaton that mimics a smooth swimming motion by moving up and down and this was achieved through the use of cams to push certain parts up and down at certain moments.
