Dolphin Made for lasering. This is cut a bit like a puzzle with a back piece to keep it all together, and all glued then and hung or not like an ornament. Could be made of wood or acylic, acrylic might look interesting in a window in various colors, with a clear back. Now you could cut it raw and let people paint it, but there are small bits. So I would'nt be letting kids go it unsupervised I use this water based dye that you can thin down and is also child safe. I dye larger bits of ply like 500 x 300 my bed size or larger and cut down on the saw bench. Only takes one coat and it does soak in. Then only one coat of clear, and gloss really pop,s. You can get water based gloss and satin in a tin and roller it on. Much cheaper, or use a spray can, not sure if any of those are child safe, I just know the stain is because of the site information on it. Then after you cut items out, wipe the edges, and if you want run a brush around the edge with a little clear on it. Looks nice. Also much quicker and you actually use less paint or dye long term.
