Don't Break

Don’t Break is a FDM designed project for PLA plastic with cracks that cut into more than half of the box. It is about 3 inches in length and 5 inches in width. Small items such as pens, paper-clips, bookmarks, or post-it notes can be put within the cracks in the box. There are also two cut-in rectangles at the side of the project that could possibly be used to put erasers or other solid items. The inspiration of this project came from the breaking and melting of ice due to global warming. The cracks on the box resemble the cracks of the ice that are gradually increasing every day. I created this project mainly because I believe it is something simple, easy to use, yet meaningful. It can be used in daily life for small items that people always lose and would be annoyed when they can’t find them. On the other hand, it also serves the purpose of reminding people about the environmental situation we are facing today. When people use this project, they will remember and be noticed of the global warming crisis and how it is affecting everyone in the world. Its name, Don’t Break, came from the ice breakage in the oceans and its negative influence to the polar animals. I hope that while people use it for their own use, they also would consider how our world is being changed today.
