Donaustauf war memorial

Why did I choose this object ? I live near Donaustauf in Bavaria, this place is known for its Roman Valhalla and the castle ruins above the village. There are many interesting things to see as a tourist. For the last 2 years I have not been there as a visitor but because I had to go to my job by bus. At my stop is the so-called war memorial for the fallen and missing in both world wars. I have no relatives or connections to the deceased, but for 2 years I saw this statue almost every day and it never got boring for me. I will be changing jobs soon and I thought this competition would be a good opportunity to take this statue with me as a 3D print and show more people that it is not always the famous sights that make an lasting impression. What did I do. I started taking photos with my camera and created my model in Meshroom. As you can see in the pictures, the statue is very tall, so I couldn't capture some parts, like the top of the head. To fix this, I recreated the missing parts in 3ds max and Blender. What was still missing was the colors on the newly created parts, so I made everything printable and restored the texture from the raw model. I repaired the bad parts with Photoshop and Substance Painter. For the finish I created a rendering in 3ds max. Were would I love to go. There are many great places in the world, but for me there is only one place I want to go to as soon as possible. I have been in a long distance relationship with a wonderful woman in Thailand for two years, but I have not been able to see her for almost two years because of covid and money problems. I would love to tear through Thailand with her and see the monuments and buildings of her culture. As I am a 3D technician by profession, my goal is of course to take advantage of such a trip and capture the most interesting places and objects in 3D. Thank you for reading
