As I am remodeling my 1942 home, I found that the door strikes were set too deep so I needed to create a spacer to raise the strike so the door would close properly. the screw mounting holes have fillets on one side. These fillets should sit against the plate as the holes in the plate may have punch flanges that fit into the fillets.
