Door Lock / Drop Bar - Steampunk Style

Okay, yet another door lock, but since I have not found something I liked for our little shed door, I designed one myself with some steampunk elements. While in engineering I found an used ball bearing (one you probably use in your inline skates), so why not also overdesigning it :-)

You need all four parts, eight 4x30 screws and an used ball bearing (22mm).

In the end the recipe is (see also pictures)

Update 31.08.2021:
Print out all four parts (I did all parts except the bar in PLA with a 15% infill and both the octopus head and the bar in two colors.

I also recommend printing the blocker in PETG and an infill of at least 30%. PLA has deformed in my case due to strong sunlight. The second print with PETG has held its shape so far.

Place the bearing into the blocker.

Attach the holding plate first on one side (you need four 4x30 screws). Place the bar and the octopus headpart on top (the bar has some guide to be placed exactly. The Octopus headpart has to be in the central so that it presses on the middle of the ball bearing. Screw it slightly until it holds tight and the bar can dangle loosely (one 4x30 screw).

Use the bar to position the holding counterpart on the other side. With the remaining three 4x30 screws mount it so that the bar is horizontal and the bar can slip up/down.

Happy printing and let me know, how your print turned out.
