This was one of my favorite games to play while sitting in church when I was young. The problem was that I hated taking time to draw all of the dots only to have the game be over too fast. This game solves that problem.

The object of the game is to enclose a square then claim it as your own. Players take turns placing a piece in the slots on the board. If the player closes a 1x1 square, the player places a token in the square and gets another turn. If the player does not close a 1x1 square, it is now the next player's turn. On your turn, you must place a piece in an open slot. The player with the most tokens on the board at the end of the game wins.

This board has a few features. All you really need is the board, the tokens, and the pieces. If you print the base and the drawers, you will have a place to keep all of your pieces. The board sits on the base either face up (when playing) or face down (when in storage). The drawers hold the pieces and the tokens.

Once the game is over, rather than sort the pieces and tokens one by one, tip the board so that the pieces and tokens fall into the drawer with the holes. Place the drawer with the holes on top of the drawer without the holes. Hold them together and give them a couple of shakes. If the pieces get blocked by the tokens, stir what is left with your finger. The pieces will fall through the holes while the tokens stay in the drawer. You are ready for another game.

I printed these parts with PLA. The tokens are duel colored so that they can count for either player.

I used supports for the drawer handles and the front of the base to help with the span over the drawers.

The board is printed in a fairly high resolution so if you don't want to wait, you could drop it a couple of levels. It should be ok down to about 0.20mm

I used the Creative Commons - Public Domain license because this game has been around longer than my grandparents. If someone wants to rework my design and do anything with it, they are welcome to. You don't have to give me credit for it but I would appreciate it.

I hope you enjoy playing this game as much as I enjoyed making it.

For a demo, check out this video:

<oembed url="https://youtu.be/0vNnivPsH4M"></oembed>
